Rescue Rangers Has Officially Launched… But We're Just Getting Started!
Education today. Advocacy tomorrow. Better lives for cats.
We did it! After months of planning, dreaming, and a whole lot of heart, the inaugural session of Rescue Rangers has officially taken place! And it was everything we hoped for and more.
What is Rescue Rangers?
Rescue Rangers is Felius’ newest community education and youth engagement program, and we couldn't be more excited about it. Designed for kids ages 8 to 15, this six-month program meets once a month. Each session is led by rescue workers and volunteers who bring real, hands-on experience into every class.
But this isn't just a lecture series. Every class attended earns participants a badge they can be proud to share, and the entier program wraps with a take-home advocacy project that kids put into practice in their own neighborhoods. We want Rescue Rangers to leave our doors and make a real difference out in the community and with this first group, we already know they will.
What Our Rescue Rangers Are Learning
Over the course of six sessions, students explore a range of topics that give them a full picture of what cat rescue looks like from the inside out:
What is involved in cat rescue and why it matters
Why spay/neuter and preventative vet care is so important
Basic feline behavior and how to safely interact with cats
How shelters, vets, fosters, and communities work together
Career opportunities in the animal world, including an off-site visit to Completely Cat Clinic!
Ways kids and families can help cats right in their own backyard
Watching young people connect with our cats, ask thoughtful questions, and leave with a renewed sense of purpose reminded us exactly why we started this program in the first place.
Why Rescue Rangers Matters
At Felius, our mission has always been to create meaningful, authentic connections between people and rescue cats. Rescue Rangers extends that mission in a powerful new direction. By investing in young advocates, we are helping build a more informed, compassionate community. One that supports ethical rescue, reduces barriers to care, and improves outcomes for cats across the Omaha metro for years to come.
Watching our first group of Rangers arrive with wide eyes and big hearts, ask thoughtful questions, and leave energized to make a difference reminded us exactly why we started this. The future of animal advocacy is in good hands.
A huge thank you to every volunteer, staff member, and donor who helped bring this program to life. We cannot wait to see what this incredible group does next!
