Felius Cat Café & Rescue’s business strategy and affairs are overseen by a board of directors comprised of a President, Vice President, and advisory members. Operations are managed by a small (but mighty) group of dedicated staff and volunteers.

Bre Phelan
PRESIDENT & FOUNDER
Bre launched Felius in 2017, inspired by her love of animals and desire to give back to the community. She has a Bachelor’s in Communication from UNO and over 15 years of experience in digital marketing and advertising. Bre spends her free time with her husband and cats, Lunchbox and Remi.

Molly Buskirk
VICE PRESIDENT & RESCUE LEAD
Molly has been on Felius’ board since 2018. She was instrumental getting our rescue operations off the ground and building a best-in-class experience for our adopters and cats. Molly is an Associate Corporate Counsel with Werner Enterprises, Inc. and has 10+ year’s experience in animal advocacy and rescue. She fosters dogs and rabbits through Little White Dog Rescue and Hops & Co, as well as working with children in foster care as a Sarpy County CASA.

Amanda Phillips
SECRETARY
Amanda is a Sr. Administrative Assistant at WoodmenLife where she has worked for the past six years. A dedicated Felius volunteer since 2021, she is the proud adopter of two Felius Rescue cats. A University of Nebraska at Omaha Alumni, Amanda received a Bachelor’s Degree in graphic design in 2017. While at UNO, she involved in the Sigma Kappa Sorority and held an internship at Conagra Foods. -
Eric Kaplan
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Eric is Manager of Mechanical Systems, Facility Design, at Union Pacific Railroad, managing capital construction across the western half of the United States. Outside of work, Eric has a wide variety of non-profit experience, including serving as the founding President of Atlanta Boxer Rescue and logistics and production of annual festivals. At home, Eric is a tinkerer and maker. Eric and his wife are managed by four rescue cats – Girl, Smokey, Lily, and Felius alum Frank.

Dr. Angela Kade
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Dr. Angela Kade is a Veterinarian and the owner of The Completely Cat Clinic. Her focus is easing stress for the cats who are most worried about visiting the vet and helping rescued cats find loving homes. Outside of taking care of cats, Dr. Kade enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter. She also has two rescue cats (Lexi Lou and Logan) and a very old shih tzu named Huxley.

David works as a Systems Design Engineer for CTI. Prior to his career in AV, David was a Manager of Track Maintenance at Union Pacific. Outside of his day job, David is a passionate advocate for Omaha rescue cats and has adopted many of his own.

Brandi Holys
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Brandi is currently the Vice President of Advancement for Gross Catholic High School. She has extensive fundraising and grant writing experience for various charitable organizations, including the Nebraska Humane Society and is the founder of Giving Advisor, LLC and the Philanthropy is NOT a Bake Sale podcast and online community. Outside of her day job, Brandi has a cuddly little rescue cat, Mimi.

Kristen Beck
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Kristen is an Event Project Manager at Vic Gutman & Associates. She works directly with a several large public events that help to enrich the Omaha community. Kristen has spent her career working with local non-profits through events and fundraising, so Felius was a natural fit. Though Kristen doesn’t have any cats of her own, she does have a dog that sometimes acts like one.

Eryn Swan
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Eryn is the founder and owner of Wag, a local pet food and grooming store. She is an integral part of the Felius rescue team, sharing her invaluable expertise with fosters and our TNR crew. She is also the founder of Hops & Co, a small animal rescue dedicated to improving the lives of the tiniest Omaha rescue animals. Eryn spends her free time with her husband and son, two adorable poodles, three rescue cats, and menagerie of chickens.

Hannah Johnson
CAFE GENERAL MANAGER
Hannah joined Felius in 2021 and quickly made her mark on our organization. Her dedication to cat care and operations shines through in everything she does. She also has non-profit experience, serving on the board for the Kansas Association for Youth. At the cafe, Hannah oversees our daily operations and ensures all cafe cats have the best possible experience. Last, but not least, Hannah is the proud adopter of Felius Rescue cat, Pete!

Amanda Guidero, PhD
FOSTER CARE COORDINATOR
Amanda started volunteering with Felius in 2019 as a playroom socializer and foster. Her dedication to excellent foster care and passion for our mission quickly catapulted her into a leadership position overseeing our foster program. She has extensive experience working with other cat rescues and for her day job, Amanda is a Data Scientist at Cisco.

Rachel Sutko
TNR & MATERNITY WARD LEAD
Rachel not only manages our TNR program, but she also oversees our volunteer-run Maternity Ward (alongside her mom and sister). Outside of Felius, Rachel owns and operates Arbor Hall event center as the head chef and cake designer. Additionally, she recently launched her own TNR nonprofit organization, Stay to Spay. Her dedication to helping Omaha rescue cats is admired across the organization.

Joni Van Dyke
MATERNITY WARD MANAGER
Joni is a serial entrepreneur with a deep passion for art and rescue. In 2008, Joni opened a wedding and event facility (Arbor Hall) with her daughters, Molly and Rachel. But her love of art drove her to launch her own porcelain studio, A Painter’s Collection Studio. In her free time, she operates the Felius Maternity Ward, giving feral moms a safe space to give birth. -
Molly Pagels
ADOPTION COORDINATOR
Molly started volunteering with Felius along side her mother, Joni and sister, Rachel. She helps to process Felius adoption applications, assists with the Felius Maternity Ward, and helps Rachel with her TNR efforts. Molly co-owns Arbor Hall event center where she coordinates all the bookings. Molly and her boyfriend Justin are HUGE animal lovers and enjoy taking road trips with their three rescue dogs.

Melissa Bergoch
ADOPTION COORDINATOR & VOLUNTEER TRAINER
Melissa has been volunteering with Felius since 2019, dedicating her time to vetting incoming adoption applications and helping with events. Melissa also trains new playroom volunteers, ensuring the best possible experience for our playroom cats and guests. She has been an integral part in our growth and success over the years and we are lucky to have her on board.

Becky Knightly
ADOPTION COORDINATOR
Becky started volunteering with Felius as a foster and playroom attendant. We quickly realized her dedication to our mission. Soon after, she took on the additional role of Adoption Coordinator, where she helps process hundreds of applications each year. She has been a powerhouse volunteer ever since. Becky is currently a Senior Project Manager for PSCU.

Debbie also started volunteering with Felius as a foster and playroom attendant, where she eventually started processing adoption applications. We are grateful for passionate volunteers like Debbie who go above and beyond for Omaha rescue cats. In her professional life, Debbie is a pharmacist.
