With Felius Cat Cafe and Rescue in your estate planning, you establish a legacy that lasts for generations, creating a better future for rescue cats in Omaha, Nebraska.
Legacy planning
What is a legacy gift?
A Legacy Gift refers to donations that donors plan to give to a designated nonprofit after their passing. Almost everyone has the ability to create a legacy gift, and for most people it’s the largest gift they can make. Consult with your estate lawyer or financial advisor about the many ways you can create your legacy by making Felius Cat Café and Rescue a beneficiary of your will, retirement account, life insurance policy, or living trust.
Why are legacy gifts important?
These gifts help build long-term financial stability for our organization and ensure that we can continue to save rescue cats, provide quality educational programming, and expand our trap-neuter-return services.
Ensuring care for your pets after you're gone
If you have pets, you want the comfort of knowing they are cared for and loved after you pass away. We recommend that you remember your pets when crafting your will and ask a family member or friend to be their guardian. Felius is happy to discuss an intake plan for your pet(s) when the time comes if no family members or friends are available for rehoming.
Key considerations when outlining your end-of-life pet care wishes
Veterinary History: Include detailed copies of your pet(s) prior medical history and vetting paperwork. Please also note your current veterinarian.
Home Environment Preferences: What kind of new home would suit your pet(s) best? (e.g. with or without children, other pets, quiet or active household, apartment vs. house, etc.)
Feeding Routine: What food do they eat and when? Be sure to include specific brands and portion sizes if possible.
Medications: List any medications, along with dosage, frequency, and purpose.
Family Involvement: If you’d like to offer family or friends the first opportunity to adopt your pet(s), please outline a timeframe and specify who should care for them in the interim (Felius or a designated person).
Additional Care Requests: Note anything else that’s important to you, such as favorite toys, routines, or quirks that make them feel at home.
Adoption Fee Allocation: Note if you wish a portion of your endowment to be used to cover your pet(s) adoption fees for their next home.
Getting started
To make it easy, we have a simple bequest form to review with your legal council. It contains a Cat Intake clause in the instance you would like Felius intake your cat(s) in the event that you are no longer able to care for them.
