We need cat and animal lovers who are passionate about rescue and reducing euthanasia rates. Read on for specific areas where we need your help. Submit an application.

General volunteer requirements

  • Must be at least 19 years of age.

  • Must attend volunteer orientation training session.

  • All volunteers are required to sign a liability release waiver.

  • You must shadow a volunteer lead for one session prior to volunteering in the cat playroom.

Committee positions have a 1-year minimum term requirement.

Felius Annual Fundraising Gala Committee

We’re looking for passionate volunteers to join the planning committee for our first-annual Black Cat Gala. From securing sponsors to planning entertainment and coordinating logistics, there’s several volunteer roles available. Be part of a team dedicated to saving rescue cats and creating an unforgettable night. Planning begins March 1st for our October event.

Committee Responsibilities & Requirements

  • Dedicate at least 10 hours per month towards planning between March and October.

  • Participate in regular meetings (virtual or in-person) to stay updated on event progress.

  • Assist in reaching out to businesses and donors for sponsorships, auction items, and financial contributions.

  • Spread the word about the event through personal networks, social media, and community engagement.

  • Support venue setup, decor, catering coordination, and overall event execution.

  • Help organize auctions, raffles, and themed donation opportunities.

  • Ensure a seamless and enjoyable experience for attendees, from check-in to entertainment.

  • Assist with various roles such as registration, auction monitoring, and guest engagement.

  • Help with thank-you notes, sponsor recognition, and event wrap-up tasks.

    • Oversees all aspects of event planning and execution.

    • Serves as the primary liaison between the committee and Felius leadership.

    • Manages budget.

    • Ensures all tasks are delegated and completed on time.

    • Secures sponsorships from businesses and donors.

    • Develops fundraising strategies, including live and silent auctions.

    • Oversees donor stewardship and recognition.

    • Manages contracts with event venue.

    • Coordinates event setup, catering, and seating arrangements.

    • Ensures all permits and insurance requirements are met.

    • Constructs event timeline from set-up through tear-down.

    • Plans entertainment, speakers, and special performances.

    • Coordinates themed activities to generate donations.

    • Oversees A/V needs and stage management.

    • Develops promotional materials and event branding.

    • Manages social media campaigns and email outreach.

    • Coordinates with press and media for event coverage.

    • Recruits and manages event volunteers.

    • Plans guest experience, including registration and VIP perks.

    • Oversees event signage and guest communications.

    • Secures auction items and raffle donations.

    • Organizes live auction logistics.

    • Works with the fundraising coordinator to maximize bidding.

Ongoing volunteer opportunities

  • Fostering: We always need help fostering cats and kittens who are not yet old enough (or the right fit) to be in our café. If you are interested, please visit our foster page for details on how to apply.

  • Cat Feeding & monitoring: We need volunteers to hang in our cat play area and ensure that patrons are interacting responsibly with our adoptable animals. Additionally, we can always use help with feeding and scooping litter boxes.

  • Trap-neuter-return (TNR): Assist with trapping feral cats and transporting them to get spayed/neutered and vaccination prior to release.

  • Fundraising & grant writing: As a nonprofit, fundraising is how we are able to continue operating and execute our mission. If you have fundraising experience and don’t mind making cold- calls, this is the volunteer position for you!

  • Events: Felius hosts several fundraising and fun events throughout the year. We need amazing volunteers to help concept, plan, and staff these events.

  • Photography & design: Are you an amazing designer or photographer who loves cats? We are always looking for partners to help promote our mission.
